The Good News of the Kingdom
According to

Yeshua, the Righteous King

~ 24 ~

C. The King Foretells His Return (Olivet Seminar) (chapters 24 and 25)

1. The Temple to Be Destroyed (24:1-2; Mark 13;1-2; Luke 21; 5-6)

1As Yeshua left the Temple and was going on His way, His disciplestalmidim came to Him to call His attention to its buildings. 2But He answered them, “You see all of these, don’t you? Sure you do! But I’m telling tell you that there will not be left here one stone on another; they will all be torn down.

2. The Talmidim’s Question (24:3-4; Mark 13:3-4; Luke 21:7)

3As He sat on the Mount of Olives, the talmidim came to him privately ans asked, “Tell us when these things will happen. What will be the sign that Your are coming and the `olam hazehpresent age, the world is ending?”

3. Signs of the Acharit-HaYamim (24:4-14; Mark 13:5-13; Luke 21:8-11)

4Yeshua answered them, “Be careful to not let anyone deceive you. 5Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Mashiach,’[5] and will lead many astray. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t frightened. All these things must happen, but it isn’t the end yet. 7For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various parts of the worlds. 8But all these things are just like the beginning of labor pains.[8] 9At that time they will arrest you, persecute you, and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations because of Me. 10Then many will be deceived into betraying and hating each another. 11Many false prophets will arise and mislead many people. 12Because people will grow farther and farther away from the Torah, most people’s love will grow cold. 13But the one who endures to the end will be preserved from the Messianic Judgment. 14This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the Goyim,[14] and then the end will come.

4. The Abomination of Desolation (24:15-20; Mark 13:14-18; Luke 21:20-23)

15Therefore, when you see the Abomination of Desolation that was spoken of through Daniel the prophet[15] standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16then those who are in Y'hudahJudea must flee to the mountains. 17Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to take out things that are in his house. 18Whoever is in the field must not go back to get his clothes. 19But woe[19] to those who are pregnant and to nursing mothers in those days! 20Pray that your flight will not be in the winter or on a Shabbat.

5. The Great Tribulation (24:21-28; Mark 13:19-23; Luke 21:23-24)

21There will be great oppression greater than there has ever been from the beginning of the world until now, and nothing like it ever again. 22If the length of that time had not been limited, no living thing would have survived. But for the sake of those who have been chosen, its length will be limited.

23At that time if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Mashiach!’ or ‘There he is!’ don’t believe it. 24For there will arise false Mashiachs and false prophets, performing great signs and wonders to lead even the chosen ones astray, if such a thing were possible.

25Pay attention! I have told you in advance! 26So if people tell you, ‘Look, he is out in the wilderness,’ don’t go out; or ‘Look, he is in a secret chamber,’ don’t believe it. 27For when the Son of Man comes it will be like the lightning that flashes out the east and fills the whole sky clear to the west. 28For wherever there’s a dead body, that’s where the vultures gather.[28]

6. The King’s Return to Earth (24:29-31; (Mark 13:24-27; Luke 21:29-33)

29But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will grow dark, the moon will stop shining, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in heaven will be shaken;[29] 30and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great Sh'khinah. 31He will send out his angels with a great sound of a shofarram’s horn trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.[31]

7. Parable of the Fig Tree (24:32-35; Mark 13:28-31; Luke 21:29-33)

32Now learn this parable from the fig tree. When its branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near.[32] 33Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34Most certainly I tell you, this generation[34] will not pass away, until all these things are accomplished. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.[35]

8. A Warning for Watchfulness (24:36-51; Mark 13:32-37; Luke 21;34-36)

36But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.[36]

37As it was in the time of Noach, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38In those days right before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, right up until the day that Noach entered the ark. 39They didn’t know until the flood came, and took them all away [to judgment]. That’s how the coming of the Son of Man will be. 40Two men will be in the field: one will be taken [to judgment] and one will be left. 41Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken [to judgment] and one will be left.[41] 42So be watchful, because you don’t know when your Lord will come. 43But know this, if the master of the house had known at what time of night the burglar was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44So you also need to be ready, for at a time that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come.

45Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge over his family and servants, to give them their food at the proper time? 46It will be well with that servant whom his master finds doing so when he returns.[46] 47I’m telling you the truth! He will give that servant charge over everything he owns. 48But if that evil servant should think to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49and begins to mistreat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards, 50that servant’s master will come on a day when he doesn’t expect him and in an hour when he isn’t aware. 51He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.

Chapter 25

  5. “I am the Mashiach” (Messiah) means literally, “I am the anointed one,” or “I have a special anointing.” I personally consider anyone who claims to have a “special anointing” one of these false prophets. Anyone who truly has a special anointing for God’s work has no need to announce it. The fact will be evident from his works. [RETURN]

 8. Labor pains generally start mild and infrequent, then gradually increase in frequency and intensity. So will the signs of the end of this age be. [RETURN]

14. Goyim, Gentiles; literally “nations.” [RETURN]

15. Daniel 9:27; Dan 11:31; Dan 12:11 [RETURN]

19. Woe; Hebrew ywa, 'owy or oi; woe! alas! oh! a passionate cry of grief or despair. [RETURN]

28. Wherever the spiritually dead congregate, that’s where the birds of prey (false teachers) will gather to feast on them. [RETURN]

29. See Isaiah 13:10; Isa 34:4; I understand this to mean that there will be all sorts of astronomical disturbances. [RETURN]

31. I do not accept the classic Christian interpretation of “the Rapture” for the many reasons I have discussed HERE. If all the righteous are to be in Israel during Messiah’s thousand-year reign, it may be that Yeshua is here simply referring to an ingathering of Believers to Israel to be with Messiah. Isaiah said: “You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” (Exodus 19:4) Similarly, it may very well be that the fulfillment of 1Thess 4:17 will be a massive airlift of Messianic Believers from the Diaspora to Israel at the beginning of Messiah’s Kingdom. Whether the means of that airlift are natural or supernatural remains to be seen. [RETURN]

32. Throughout Scripture, the fig tree is used as a type or symbol for Israel. This prophecy was fulfilled on May 14, 1948, when Israel was restored as a nation within the borders of their Promised Land (“its branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves”). With this part of the prophecy having been fulfilled, can the rest be far behind? [RETURN]

34. The word for “generation” (genea) can also be translated as “race.” So Yisra'el will not cease to exist, not those who were living at the time and who have clearly died. [RETURN]

35. Since Yeshua taught nothing but Torah, and since Yeshua said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away,” how is it that the Church teaches that the Torah has been done away with? [RETURN]

36. Yeshua said that not even He knew the “day and hour” of His return, yet some false prophets who have a “special anointing” can tell us with great certainty that they have information that is not available to Yeshua. Anyone who has the audacity to predict the time of His return must be considered a false prophet, and Believers must reject everything that person has ever taught. [RETURN]

41. Rapture teachers use this verse to teach that at the “rapture” those who are “taken away” are taken to safety. However these are all taken not to safety, but to judgment. Be careful of your theology! [RETURN]

46. It will be very good for the appointed teacher who is teaching at His return. [RETURN]
